PIESP –Independent Study Program for the arts
[Language and Project Development for Artists]
Offered as from March 2010, the Escola Sao Paulo Independent Program – PIESP is designed aiming for artists who are at the beginning of their career. Conceived and directed by his creator, curator Adriano Pedrosa (founder of the Bolsa Pampulha in Belo Horizonte), PIESP program has one year duration in visual arts. The program consists in meetings between young artists with top artists and curators from Brazil, to discuss and develop language and projects. The program will open enrolments for a limited number of artists who will be chosen by the School. Target public being the artists at the beginning of their career who already have a language or work developed.
The program is inspired on the international art programs such as the Independent Studio Program from the Whitney Museum and is structured through critical seminars or critic classes, individual meetings with the artists participants and lectures.

GENERAL INFO:
. Enrollment target: artists and curators wishing to dynamize their work process
. Program starts: February 22th, 2011
. Apliccation due to: January 21th, 2011
. Classes: Tuesdays and Thursdays – 7 – 10 pm
. Individual classes will take place every month, by appointment with the tutors
. R$ 11.880 (Reais) a year
. All classes will be in portuguese. For portuguese language speakers
. Students enrolled in PIESP program are entitled to a 50 % discount on any course of São Paulo School.
Students enrolled in the annual and semi-annual take a few classes at the school with 50% discount, and also can go to some classes of other annual and semi-annual courses. See the service.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY
Adriano Pedrosa
Curator, essayist and editor , he was the co-curator for the 27th Bienal of Sao Paulo and chief curator for the Pampulha Art museum. Among is curatorial projects we find
"F(r)icciones” (Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain ,2000-2001, with Ivo Mesquita) and “Farsites: Urban Crisis and Domestic Symptoms in Recent Contemporary Art” (InSite-05, San Diego Museum of Art, Centro Cultural Tijuana, 2005).
